We had 2 horses running yesterday, The Guvnor started us off up at Redcar in a Maiden handicap over 1m6f, it looked on paper a very good race with plenty of expensive staying pedigrees entered to run, the favourite in the race cost £500,000 as yearling and only managed to beat one home. P J Mcdonald got the leg up and gave him a good ride round, This was the best i’ve seen the horse run so far finishing a clear second, the 3rd place horse was 6l behind him, he improves with every run and physically develops with every run, he still needs time to fill into him frame and i believe next year he will be in all the big staying handicaps, very pleased with him and still have big hopes for this horse.
Sugauli who won on debut last year was sent to yarmouth to take on a superstar filly Cloudy dawn who had won both starts prior to the race, Ray Dawson got the leg up and gave sugauli a great ride getting him into a nice rhythm, Ideally Sugauli needs 7f to 1m but hasn’t run since August last year so needed to start somewhere as a nice prep race, He showed plenty of speed and acted very professional which is what we was hoping for. We will now step the horse up to 7f and he will be aimed at some nice handicaps through the summer, We think a lot of this horse and gave him plenty of time over the winter to mature and develop.
