LANDERMERE got his career off to the best possible start with victory in a mile novice event at Kempton on Wednesday evening.
Owned by The Rogues gallery and Carroll House Racing this son of New Approach had been working well in the build up to this race but our spirits had been dampened when he was drawn 14 of 14 for this first start.
Despite such a poor draw, jockey Jack Mitchell was able to adopt a good position on the tail of the odd’s on favourite Parlando.
Landermere travelled well and was well-positioned to challenge the leader on turning for home.
The pair engaged in battle with Landermere edging ahead inside the closing stages to win a neck.
Tom said: “His work had been very good but we were worried about the draw and the favourite set a decent standard to aim at. He looks as though he’ll improve for ten furlongs. He’s an exciting prospect and I am thrilled for his owners who have been very patient.”
